This past week Donald Trump continued on a path to get rid of Obamacare despite numerous failed attempts. On Thursday he announced that he would end the federal subsidies to health insurance companies that make healthcare affordable to millions of low-income Americans. A White House press release referred to these subsidies as “bailouts”. These aren’t bailouts. These subsidies allow private insurers the ability to cover Americans that otherwise would not be able to afford insurance.

Obamacare is not “imploding” as Trump would have everyone believe. However his latest actions may cause that to happen. Without the subsidies in place, premiums will spike and throw the health care market into chaos. Thus causing companies to who offer insurance low-cost alternatives to scrap their plans altogether leaving millions without insurance coverage.
Donald Trump revels in chaos and is as committed as ever to undo anything that has Barack Obama’s name associated with it. Regardless of how good it may be.
